TADWA Beach Trekker
Thank you for your interest in TADWA's BEACH TREKKER featured on the New Inventors, ABC TV.
The Beach Trekker was 4 years in the making and designed not only to transport people across the beach but into the water (what's the use of going to the beach if you can't go into the water!).
It originated as a request from the West Australian Disabled Sports Association and the original prototypes were kindly supported by Lotterywest.
TADWA volunteer, Steve Gates who represented TADWA on the 'New Inventors' programme designed the unique 'beach wheel', which is registered (AU 144418S) and along with a team of TADWA members, who contributed towards the unique wheelchair design over the years. The wheel is made up from imported spring stainless steel and the design is inherently self sprung (suspension system) and deforms to travel over undulating ground surfaces.
