TADWA AND THE ENVIRONMENT

The organisation is acutely aware of the effects of climate change and has for some time been taking steps to avoid sending unwanted equipment & metals, including batteries, computers, monitors and printers to landfill. TADWA aims to divert Ewaste away from landfill by achieving a 97% recycling rate of unused ICT equipment by forming community partnerships and promoting social enterprise. The key benefits of recycling Ewaste include reducing health and safety risks associated with disposal in landfill, capacity to re-use and remanufacture electronic goods, and providing access to lower cost computers and other technologies to people with disabilities and those on low incomes and to not-for-profit community organisations.

ENERGY & GREENHOUSE AUDIT RESEARCH PROJECT

TADWA is currently collaborating with WACOSS with an Energy & Greenhouse Audit.  The information gained from the audit will be used to implement changes resulting in reduction in energy costs and TADWA’s carbon footprint, thus contributing to an overall reduction in greenhouse emissions.
